Normally, I would not recommend internet diets because most of them are based on experience and not science (this one’s on science 😛 ).
What are carbs anyway? Well, carbs, or carbohydrates, are molecules that contain atoms of Carbon, Oxygen and Hydrogen. When it comes to diets, internet people use simple carbs and complex carbs. We, dietitians, use whole and refined carbohydrates.
Basically, whole carbohydrates contain natural fibers (unprocessed) and refined carbohydrates were processed and have been stripped of these natural fibers.
Whole carbs examples: potatoes, legumes, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, etc.
Refined carbs example: sweet beverages, pastry, rice (white), bread (white), pasta (also white), etc.
So don’t avoid carbs in diet, just don’t eat the refined ones.
So the basic idea is to:
Eat fish, meat, vegetables, eggs, nuts, fruits, dairy (fat one. the low fat one is processed), grains (non gluten is best), healthy oils not made from seeds.
Don’t eat sugar, oil made out of seeds, trans fats, processed food. (If it looks like factory made, you eat calories, not nutrients – also called empty calories)
Drink tea, coffee, water (sparkling water is fine too).
I will not give you a specific diet, because it would probably not work for anyone (I can make one for free if you e-mail me using the contact page).
You can eat:
Meat – Lamb, pork, chicken, turkey
Fish – twice a week you can eat fat fish (cat fish, salmon, trout)
Eggs – pastured eggs work best.
Oils – olive oil, coconut oil, even quality butter (don’t abuse these)
Yogurt – the fat ones, 3,5% fat or more. (also sour cream and heavy cream)
Olives – these will fill you up really fast
Vegetables – fresh or frozen
You eat 3 times a day and 2 snacks in between, you avoid sugar based food and beverage, cereals, flour, wheat, bread, ice cream, potato chips, and fast food and you will lose weight 100%. This should become your lifestyle after a while, because using this as a diet for like two weeks will not work and you will gain weight fast if you go back to your old lifestyle.
There is no big secret about diets and lifestyle in general. You all know what food is bad and what’s good. It’s just a matter of “when will you start living healthy” or “when will you stop looking for miracles and accept the fact that you will always be fat.”
